The bath, body, and cosmetic industry is a massive, multi-billion dollar business that hinges on one very specific philosophy…that you NEVER feel satisfied with who are in your skin. Billions of advertising dollars are spent every year driving that idea home. You can’t be clean enough, smell fresh enough, look good enough, and it all requires you to keep buying more and more product to try and achieve a look that’s only acquired through digital airbrush and editing techniques, and excessive amounts of body makeup. It’s a double-edge sword…teaching women to hide behind the products they use, while remaining prisoners in their imperfect skin. These companies, no matter how sweet and natural they try and market themselves…make their money off your insecurities. It’s actually the main function of all advertising…to feed those insecurities, and it works so it’s not going to change any time soon.
Your skin is the largest organ you have, and like all other organs it exists for a VERY important reason! It works to absorb nutrients like vitamin D from the sun, and oxygen, and to absorb moisture from the air. In exchange it also exists to eliminate unwanted toxins, and wastes from your body…through sweat. It’s why your skin is covered in little tiny holes, called pores. That’s easy to understand. But, it’s important to also know that your skin works like a giant sponge, on an even smaller scale than pores….on a microscopic level. Nowadays that’s more important than ever to realize with the increasing introduction of NANO elements into all the everyday products we use.
Did you know that even the laundry detergent, and fabric softener you use on your clothes leaves a chemical residue that is eventually absorbed by your skin, into your system? That deodorant contains aluminum? That the floride they put in the water system, in mouthwash, and toothpaste is actually a hazardous waste product? That talc found in baby powder is carcinogenic? All these chemicals are severely dangerous to our health, but thanks to the FDA, and other regulating bodies…as long as they’re kept to minimal amounts they’re considered ‘safe’. Sure….if all you use is one of them. But………………..we don’t!
Our lives are chocked full of these harmful ingredients…in the processed foods we eat, in bath & body products, cosmetics, medications, spewing out of the exhausts of all the vehicles (land, air & sea), sprayed on our clothing, carpets, furniture, painting and coating everything. In the pesticides and fertilizers, artificial sweeteners, and the plastic and stryrofoam packaging even. These chemicals are small enough to leech out of the products that surround us, and be absorbed directly into our spongy skin….effecting us negatively in untold ways! Thankfully, more and more people are becoming educated about these everyday dangers, and turning towards all-natural, organic, and holistic lifestyles and products.
Omg….what product nowadays doesn’t market itself as “natural”? Those little seals of approval are everywhere, and you….being the dumb-bunny that you are, are just suppose to buy all of it at face value. A company could slap a big sticker on a box of rat poison and call it “all-natural”. A virus is all-natural, so is arsenic, and gasoline…but do we want to ingest any of those, or put them on our skin? Of course not! So, what does “natural” mean? Sadly these days it doesn’t stand for much, and that requires you to have to be extra vigilant, and educate yourself even more about the ingredients on labels.
Walk into brand-name store that sells bath & body products, and cosmetics. Look at the labels…it’s a joke. Well, actually………..it’s insulting! Everything contains some sort of botanical infusion, or extract of this or that plant…silk proteins, rejuvenating beads, and hydrating ribbons. They just all look and smell so wonderful. Fact is, they’re junk. You might as well buy a bottle of dish detergent and use it for everything from washing the dishes, to taking a bath. At one point the shelves held products like Dove, Ivory Soap, Sunlight, and 20-Mule Team. You can still find these items, but except for borax…none of them are what they use to be. Gone are the simple days of simple, basic ingredients. Products aren’t becoming more natural & pure…they’re becoming more and more laden with chemicals. You just aren’t suppose to know any better. Of course, we’re speaking average-consumer, brand-name items. If you have $50.00 to spend on shampoo or a lipstick, or $150.00 to spend on face cream…we’re sure that some all-natural products do exist. Still, what are you really paying for? A name, or quality ingredients?
LESS IN MORE
Honestly, we want you purchase our products…that’s what we’re in business for. But, more than that…we want to be truthful, and maintain our integrity, and mission: to educate people about their health & well-being. That said, you’d be better off to spend your money on a few basic ingredients like beeswax, borax, olive oil, corn starch, and lye……and make your own body products. And, use old-wives tricks…like burning the end of a cork to use as eye-black, pinching your cheeks to blush, and rubbing berries on your lips. But……..let’s get real, who’s gonna bother with any of that? What’s a poor girl to do?
